Shashi is a Bangladeshi-American director, producer, writer, and editor who aims to instigate social change with her films. Exploring specific moments commonly experienced by the general diaspora, she creates pieces that highlight the shared struggle for liberation, celebrate joy amongst hardship, and provide comfort through relatability.

Starting her career in social media content creation and strategy, Shashi grew multiple TikTok and Instagram pages to 500k-1M followers. Now, she is a video editor and strategist behind Netflix’s multicultural social media pages. In 2021, she started her own production company called Mostafa Productions, which provides social media strategy and content creation services, specializing in short-form vertical video (TikTok, IG Reels, and YouTube Shorts). Mostafa Productions has worked with a variety of clients including Google, Microsoft, and Adobe, and they are currently producing a documentary about Bangladeshi freedom fighters.

In 2018, Shashi’s photography series, “Unapologetically South Asian Women,” was showcased at the University Art Gallery at UC San Diego and published in the ERC Circuit Research Journal. In 2019, she completed a 40-minute narrative, A Simulation, which was nominated for Best Student Film at the 2020 Hollywood Verge Film Awards. In 2019, she also created “Ride or Die,” an 8ft x 10ft smog-eating mural that is permanently installed at the center of UC San Diego. In 2020, the TikTok page Shashi eventually grew to 1.1 million followers was a Shorty Award finalist for Best TikTok in the Social Good category. And in 2021, an ad Shashi created for Brita won a Lovie Award for Best Advertising.
